At last ! it is possible to know the weather conditions on the glacier !!! Thanks to our partner EXACAM, the first Webcam on an isolated, non-electrified site has been set up in La Grave!
UA small technological prowess that lets us all know the weather conditions on the site: coupled with an automated meteorological station, this system (still being tested) lets you know the kind of conditions you will meet before you even get there... "

"Our webcam is a fantastic tool. Set up several years ago, the webcam of Saint-Hilaire was one of the first webcams ever installed on a paragliding site, and in particular on the take-off pad. It allows a great number of people to come and discover the site of Saint Hilaire du Touvet. Thus, there are webcam and Internet enthusiasts who discover the world through their screen. There are paragliding adepts who take a few moments of happiness from their office in Paris, Lyon, Brussels or San Francisco by looking at images of their favorite sport. And then there are local pilots, who wish to know instantly the flight conditions on the site. They may then choose to come and make a short flight during their lunch break or to take a half-day holiday to benefit from the superb flight conditions of the day. There are also school instructors wanting to know the flight conditions early in the morning so they can optimize their teaching choices with their trainees.
In addition, after seeing automatic, radio transmitting weather modules developing with radio transmission, there is no doubt that webcams-cum-meteorological stations will develop and become a must-have for many paragliding sites.
For all these reasons our webcam has become an essential tool, which as soon as it is breaks down, causes a crowd of protests... It is unfortunately the ransom of success. It is time for us to change our old computer I guess...
